Would this offend you about dog/kids

I have a close family member who doesn't have children. She refers to her dogs as her "kids" (this doesn't bother me.) She has health issues and decided to get another dog. This time a German Shepard puppy and she said it will be her therapy dog.

Tonight I asked her if she is going to send the puppy away to get certified and she said "would you send your child away to be trained?"

She's never trained any of her dogs. Most have turned out aggressive. She's never had a dog this large before. I find it horribly negligent to place a vest on this dog and call it a service dog. I've had German Shepards and they are great dogs all dogs can be great dogs but that doesn't make them a service dog. I even offered to give her a contact for someone I know who trains service dogs personally and for a living teaching others to properly train and get certification. She didn't want it.

Before getting off the phone she reiterated that my kids need to be trained.
