Invasion of privacy?🤔

What do you think about partners having access to one another's phones?

I wouldn’t be with someone who I didn’t have access to their phone. I don’t care what anyone else thinks of it. Women are frequently murdered by spouses who cheat on them, but everyone somehow gets holier than thou about checking phones. I don’t just straight up ask to see my husband’s phone and search through it while he watches, but I have his password and will sometimes check while he’s asleep and he knows that. I don’t keep a password on my phone (personal preference) and I know he’s been nosy and snooped through my phone before too. Sure, he could just cheat in person, delete all evidence, etc, but at least from what I have seen I know he’s not a cheater or displaying any unfaithful type behaviors. I trust him and he’s never done anything to make me question my trust, but I’m not going to just blindly think he could never do anything in our entire life spent together. I’m sure most women who find out their significant others are completely blindsided. No one ever wants to think it could happen to them until it does.

My husband can at any time have access to my phone because he knows my code. As I do his. But, neither one of us have trust issues so never feel the need to actually go through it.

Hubby and I believe that in marriage there isn’t “privacy.” You are one. We have each other’s access code. We check each other’s accounts or use each other’s phone all the time. Hubby and I both believe in “trust but verify.”    Sometimes I’ll check if he’s out of the room, but generally I ask permission to search something or call a family member, cause it is his phone, but it’s all okay for us.

I think it depends on the relationship. When you are first dating or bf/gf, your “partner” doesn’t really owe you much. When you actually start to build a life, become financially and life intertwined, have babies, etc. i feel as though it is a bit odd not to have access to each other’s phones. My husband and I both share access to everything but I rarely feel the need to check his phone. If he loses his phone, I’ll throw him mine and be like “use this to call it” 
I suppose when you are married or when your lives get deeply intertwined, you don’t need privacy. Alone time, yes, but not privacy

Access as in no problem with being welcome to use each others phones to make a call, check the time or gets online etc should absolutely be available to both partners and is not an invasion of privacy. 
Snooping through your partner's phone to try and find something is absolutely not okay and if you or your partner do that the relationship needs to end. That's abusive. If there's no trust there's no point in the relationship.

I don't allow access to my phone without permission. For me is an invasion of privacy. It is a sign that the person doesn't trust me or has personal trust issues that are not my problem or my fault.

In my marriage we have complete transparency and I wouldn't want it any other way. We Are not going through each other's phones all the time or anything like that though. I would not do this with anyone I wasn't married to though.

In my marriage we let each other use one another’s phone. We are not hiding anything. I think if you don’t want to share your phone or act weird about it then that’s a little concerning but being open with each other I think is what a trusting marriage should be about. I trust enough to not go snooping. But my hubby has never given me a reason to not trust lol
