Would you be aggravated? Upset?

So I had a girl name picked out ‘Elouise’ in memory of my grandma. Her name was Betty Louise. I found out I was having a boy so no clue what his name will be. 
Anyways, I told my brother I was sad I can’t use that name and he said, “I’ll probably use it 😊” 
Ugh. Like I thought so hard on that name.. I know I don’t own the name.. it just took forever to come up with a name

My initial reaction would be irritation, but realistically...was he just messing with you?is he about to have a daughter? Would his wife approve that name? What if you don't end up having a daughter? Do you want the name for the name or is honoring your grandmother more important? Would it be a big deal if cousins had a name or similar name in common? 
I asked my husband his opinion on this because there are names we have picked out for both genders and his sister is planning to start trying for kids this year, so we could find ourselves in the same situation. He said if the name is out there, it's a race to use it first, but now that I bring it up he wants to keep the names we haven't used yet a secret so his sister doesn't use them 😆.

I have a name that both of my siblings want. I told them that if this child isn’t the gender for the name, they could have it. I’m the one that found that name and while I know I don’t own it, we all agree that it would be weird if all of us used it - and confusing as we are all pretty close.

Nope. I wouldn’t be upset because the name is staying in the family. But if you’re that bothered, personally, just tell him you would like to keep that name just in case you have a daughter next time. But a beautiful name shouldn’t go waisted if your brother can use it.

I’d say he can have it if you’re not having any more or don’t have a girl. My friend used my girl name that was for my grandma without asking me and I told her that was a shitty thing to do but as it turns out I’m having a second boy anyway but still.. I’d tell him to wait until you’re done first

Say something to him.. be may have just been teasing you.. but if not say that you really want that name for your future baby girl and it would hurt your feelings if he used it instead

Tell him it will upset you. He shouldn’t use it honestly. Once someone says they like a name first I cut it out. Many times, even if they aren’t having more kids.
