Ultrasound too early?

Hi everyone. I'm a nervous first time mom. Just had an ultrasound yesterday. The dr said I was 7 weeks, counting from the start of my last period, but the ultrasound looked like a 5-6 week scan... (Visible sac and inside it the round yolk sac.) They kinda freaked me out, asking if I've had any bleeding. (Like I've miscarried?!)

So this morning I did a whole bunch of figuring - I'm an average 30 day cycle, so I know what day I "should" have started my period and didn't (though I had implantation bleeding the 2 days before). Counting back from there using average luteal phase and average days between fertilization and implantation puts baby's conception at most likely Nov. 23....... Making yesterday's ultrasound on Dec. 28 EXACTLY 5 weeks.

They scheduled me to come back in 1 week. My question is do you think enough will have changed? Or should I call to reschedule in another week? It really broke me up to expect a heartbeat and embryo and not see anything. I don't want to do that again!

Wait another week. Same thing happened to me I was 5 weeks 3 days, I waited 2 weeks and there was my Lil peanut and heartbeat.

FYI your pregnancy is not dated from conception, even the measurements from an ultrasound count two extra weeks. But it is extremely common to be a week or two off, since ovulation and implantation can happen any time really!

A LOT changes in a week. 6 weeks is the earliest you can hear a heartbeat, so if they have you coming back next week you should be able to hear it.

When I had my 6 week ultrasound - the tech said the 6 week mark is about as early as they can see a heartbeat. So may another week would be better.

This has made me feel at ease as I had a scan 29/12 and was around 5 weeks they said. Sac and yolk seen, booked for another scan 12/1 and hoping to see heartbeat xxx
