Ex husband and CPS

So I have a friend who is recently divorced. Her husband was abusive in many ways. He was never abusive to the kids but basically absent and had no real connection to them. Anyways, after many years together, they’re recently divorced. My friend initiated the divorce and now her ex wants to make her life miserable for it. They co parent the kids 50/50. He recently asked the kids (who are in elementary and middle school) to go to their school counselor and tell them that they “feel unsafe at their mom’s house”. The kids did as they’re told because their dad rewards them in monetary items for doing the things he asked. My question is… how will cps handle this and him? My friend is a good mom and has never (to my knowledge) neglected nor abused her children in any way. Does anyone have any experience with false claims like this from a hateful ex? TIA
