Nuchal Translucency and CVS
I'm just making this post in order to share my experience and hopefully help some worried mom out there.
After having an abnormal value for nuchal translucency (NT) at my 10 weeks ultrasound, the doctor said there could be a chance that my baby had some kind of genetic problem such as Down Syndrome, Turner Syndrome, etc.
Since it was to early to have a value that could be accepted and considered (NT value should only be considered when measured between 11 weeks and 13 weeks and 6 days) we had to wait until an ultrasound I had scheduled for around 13 weeks and meanwhile I had some blood work done. At the ultrasound the NT was still abnormal (almost 3.5) so it was recommended to do a chorionic villus sampling (CVS)
It was not a pleasant procedure but it wasn't unbearable. Had some abdominal pain for 2-3 days but thankfully had no other side effects.
Today I got the results and turns out baby is healthy and I'm having a boy 💙 I would do it all over again just to have this peace of mind. Finally I have answers and feel like I can start enjoying this pregnancy (my first). Taking announcement pictures this weekend 😁
