When do I call my dr?

Just got my BFP yesterday!  When should I call my family doc?  Do they then refer me to the OB?  I am nervous to go to my family doc bc my mom is the nurse there.  Very close to my mom but not sure I want to tell her just yet :) on the other hand, dying to confirm pregnancy from a professional instead of my cheapie walmart preg test!  Any advice?

I got my BFP on a Sunday and called the doctor on Tuesday after I found an OBGYN (recently relocated and didn't have one yet). I didn't go see my primary care physician, but my OBGYN wouldn't see me until I was 7 or 8 weeks so be prepared for that if you go to the OBGYN and skip the regular doctor. 
​You shouldn't need a referral for just a regular OBGYN. Just call and say you just found out you're pregnant and need to set up your first appointment.

My doc said if I received a positive, they didn't need to do a blood test to confirm. So I set up with a midwife and my first appointment was scheduled for 8 weeks.

Check with your insurance to make sure you are covered without a referral.

​Call your OB as soon as you can.  They'll set up appointments for the appropriate times based on your last period - but you'll have more openings to choose from if you do it earlier.
