When to seek medical help

​We've been TTC for 12 cycles and no luck at all. How did you know when to seek medical help?

​I'm nervous about seeking help taking the TTC to a whole new level of intensity.

I want to recommend you try something before stepping out for treatment.  This book was recommended to me by a nurse.  I know someone who got pregnant right away after reading and "applying" the principles of this book.  They had been trying for 3 years.  It's so important for us women to educate ourselves on our bodies. It teaches you about checking your own cervical fluid, how to recognize signs that your ovulating etc.  my husband and I have only just decided to try for our second, but I am now 30 and I know my body is a little different from when I had my first at 26. Anyways! My heart breaks for all those truly good mothers out there who are wanting their own bundle of joy.  I bought this book for $6 on Amazon (used).  Definitely worth the investment!! Praying you all see your BFP soon!!

Hi. I know the advice is a year but that after 35 you should only wait 6 months. I am currently 34 and input 4th month of trying. Should we wait a year or 6 months? A year will make me 35.

We saw a fertility specialist after trying for 8 months because it was clear that something was wrong (I'm 31, healthy & normal BMI, but had very irregular cycles). They ran tests & we discovered I have PCOS and a slight uterine abnormality & my DH has numbers just below "normal." I love our new RE & he has been great.  We've done 4 rounds of IUI - currently in the 2WW for IUI #4. If it's negative, we move on to IVF.

I started discussing fertility testing with my obgyn 8 months after my mc with no other BFP. We started the testing at 10 months and today is my last test at 12 months past mc. She can put the tests thru insurance so they are covered, as done for something else, since my insurance doesn't cover infertility testing or treatment. I booked an appointment for a fertility doc who wrote a book called "making babies" for December 1st and am doing a healthier diet, exercise, meditation, and acupuncture til then. I personally want to avoid drugs or other treatment unless here is no other way.

I am seeing a fertility specialist now. It for sure takes it to a whole new level. You will go for a consult and answer a ton of questions, you will both be tested. Your doctor will discuss treatment options depending on the results. We went for our consult in July and I have already had 2 IUI and been on Clomid both cycles. It makes the TWW more annoying because you have higher hopes. But, I am beyond glad I went and am now in the process of making my way to becoming pregnant. Worth every penny.

I plan to seek medical help when we have been trying for 1 year. I've had a lot of friends wait much longer to even start talking to their doctor, and end up taking 5-8 years to conceive with the medical help.
