Flu shot. Yes or no?

Hey everyone! I am 5 weeks 3 days right now and have my first appt on September 30th. I'm very anxious but trying to be patient. What are your doctors saying about the flu shot? I'm scared to get it as it's putting the chemicals into the babies bloodstream. I know I should get it though. What are your thoughts?

It's safe to get the Flu Shot and highly recommended... It not only prevents you from the flu but will also protect your baby from getting the flu after birth for up to 6 months. check out CDC.gov and the mayo clinic websites which give really helpful information.

I have heard that within the first 16 weeks you should not have the flu shot, but I don't know how accurate that is and I'm looking into that more and plan on having a conversation win my OBGYN about it next week. Right now I'm leaning more towards not getting it.

Definitely!! Even though it's kinda scary putting something foreign in your body when your pregnant, the flu in the vaccine is just a very small amount of dead virus and perfectly safe. And more important - it prevents you from getting flu while you're pregnant which would be much worse for the baby!!!

Was looking into this more and an ingredient in the flu shot is Thimerisol, which is mercury. Apparently even in shots that claim not to have this there is a presence. To each their own, I can see the benefits of not getting the flu shot and getting it. Just do your research before blindly letting your doctor object you with this or any other vaccine while pregnant. I personally am not getting the flu shot (and yes I am aware of the risks).

I'm getting one and my daughter. My husband got the flu last year and so thank my lucky stars neither my daughter or I got it from him so I will be again for those safety reasons.

The opinions of other pregnant women (you're awesome ladies!) are valuable, I think this is one of those questions that you really need to talk over with your doctor or midwife. There is lots of research on this topic, but I know I'm not qualified to do that kind of research or give that kind of advice. Ask more than one doctor too.  Good luck!

I have never got it and I never get the flu. Wash your hands and lots of vitamin c!
