Checkup?

I'm 33 and I have yet to go see a gynecologist for the first time. I want to know why i have such severe periods ( i hope its not endometriosis ) and still a virgin believe it or not. ( Yes I'm embarrassed to admit it ) What should I expect on the first visit?

​I remember my first visit lol So, I'd recommend you to write down all of your concerns and don't be afraid to ask. There will always be a nurse by your side. They will ask you about your last period, last time you had sex, just routine questions. They will check your temperature, weight, height & blood pressure.

​The ginecologyst will perform a check up and that would be pretty much it.

Normally I would say no to any doctor type stuff but since this IS your vajay....I say just go and see what's up with the periods at least. Wouldn't hurt to get a few other choice tests done. But odds are you are perfectly normal and healthy STD-wise if you're a virgin unless you were born with something your mother didn't tell you about. Good luck!

From the moment you're sexually active you should have been getting regular yearly Pap smear. You need to get in ASAP. Just expect it to be uncomfortable and cold think happy thoughts and everything will be okay

And you sud really go to a gynecologist right away, even if your a virgin you can still contract cervical cancer, a cyst, a fibroid, basically all condition still applies for a Virgin.

First off still being a virgin is something to be proud of :) second the doc will ask questions and may even prescribe BC to help your periods. It will make them much more manageable

On your first visit they will do a Pap smear (uncomfortable but short) and a pelvic exam (using fingers). If you tell them you have other issues they may do other tests. I really recommend you go - it's a good feeling to know what is going on with your body! Most of the visit will probably be discussion about your worries.

In terms of a Pap smear the first time is going to be a feeling u can't get use to but once you are comfortable with your obgyn your visits will be less awkward. You don't have to be embarrassed everyone is not the same that's what makes us unique?
