How are you preparing #1 for #2?

Suggestions for getting your toddler ready to be a big brother or sister?

​We have started to prepare our almost-2 year old by pointing out babies at the store, reading him stories about families, and having him say goodnight to the baby in mommy's tummy.

My daughter is 19 months and we've been showing her how to "care" for her baby doll. Things like "shhhh the baby" is sleeping and "it's time for mommy to hold the baby". I'm hoping that showing her things that will happen when my son arrives will get her slightly use to the idea.

We told my almost 2 year old son that Mommy had a baby in her belly. He loves giving his little brother hugs and kisses. We got him a baby doll for him to take care of, and he loves it. He carries it around all the time. We have books that we read him about being a big brother as well.

We are doing the same thing! I already have a bump now and our son will point to it and say baby. We told him that his baby is in mommas tummy. He seems to be catching on in anyway that he can. ☺️ He's 18 months. When is your estimated due date?

My son will be 2 in November. We're doing the same. My second appointment was yesterday and he eagerly listened for the heart beat:) 
We ask him if it's a brother or sister, he says sister and her name is sugar lol and he gives kisses and hugs. 
I just have to keep him from jumping on me. He's so active

Im really not doing much uet but im 8wks. My son loves giving my belly uugs n kisses before bed and before he leaves. I think once i get farther i might have a doll on my lap so he knows he cant be overly excited when the real baby gets here. ( my son is 4 and VERY active and loves to play like the big boys)

My little girl is almost twould and she adores babies one of the reasons I wanted to start trying. She stops to look at them or if we go to play places she will go up to them and give them a gentle hug she is so cute. We always go awww when they are on TV so once I'm in the safer zone I will start telling her there is a baby in my belly for her to look after... she always mothers her teddy. Feeds her, tries to put nappy on her and wraps her in a blanket.
