OPK as HPT??

Question

I've read in some places on here that some people have used the advanced ClearBlue OPK as a HPT and it was accurate!! Not sure how much truth is behind this but if anybody had experience this please feel free to share because I have A LOT of tests left over from this month but dont want to waste them. HELP!

I used the OPK strips (cheap kind off amazon). My period was late and I didn't catch any previous ovulation so I decided to use an OPK to see if I just ovulated late... Well it came back + and just for fun, I used an HPT with the same urine (in a cup) and it was positive!! So yeah, depending on how "pregnant" you could possibly be, an OPK CAN detect pregnancy.

You always have LH in your body so the opk has to be positive  no faint lines. I'm using mine up too :)

The way OPKS work to test for pregnancy is by detectin the sugar basically. The LH and HCG hormone are basically sugar that is detected and they are so close in relation to each other the LH test doesn't know the difference if it's LH surge or HCG. So if you are pregnant an OPK may pick up the sugar and read it as a positive LH surge and that can be an indicator of pregnancy. I wanted to try it and see if it really did work but before I could I started to bleed after having a positive HCG test so I had a chemical pregnancy.

Opk catches the LH surge only it doesn't catch HCG, but take a real pregnancy test to be sure.
