Herpes question!! Help ?

Ok I just found out from a doctor that I have herpes orally and the genital area. I don't think that test was correct cause the nurse that drew my blood was new and I don't think she did it right because she was acting like she didn't know what she was doing. I never had a outbreak I don't have any symptoms at all of having herpes. I told my boyfriend about it and he was shock because he don't have any symptoms at all. What should I do ? I know there's not a cure but then again I don't think I have it. Should I get a second opinion somewhere else?  if it's positive can I boost my immune system so high to get rid of it and get it out of hiding. Help please !?? Advice.

As a nurse I can tell you, if your blood was drawn and placed in a tube, then she did her job correctly. The lab is who runs the actual test and they have strict protocol that they follow to make sure tests are accurate. Follow the treatment your doctor gives you and you'll be just fine! :) also, you may need to check and see what your boyfriend has been doing in his spare time..

You can get checked again. Labs do make mistakes. I think it's rather likely you have it though if both the results came back positive. I'm sorry to hear that. Good luck!

My husband and I have never been with any other sex partners and a doc tried to tell me I had herpes about 10 yrs ago. I've never an outbreak since the first issue. When I went to get a second opinion they told me they couldn't confirm without having another outbreak. To this day, I've never had any other issues. So, I honestly think the diagnosis was wrong. My husband's never had any issues either.

Once you have herpes, you have it forever unfortunately.  There is medicine you can take to prevent an outbreak though. If you do in face have it, don't worry about it. It's actually very common. Most people don't even know they have it because you don't show symptoms. If it makes you feel better, get a 2nd opinion. Good luck.

I always suggest a second opinion when you aren't sure about a diagnosis but regardless of how the nurse drew the blood she isn't the one who tested it. If the sample was insufficient the pathology lab wouldn't have run the test to begin with. And the only way it would be positive for herpes is if the virus antibodies are in the blood sample, it won't come back positive if they didn't find the antibodies. I'm sorry you have contracted it.

Many people have herpes and will never have an outbreak.  I was told once you've had chicken pox the virus lives in side of you.  Have you ever had a cold sore? Did you date someone who does?  Did you find out if you have type 1 or 2

My original ob told me I had herpes and that I must have had it for a while since there was scarring. I went to another dr, who is now my current ob, and he said there is no scarring and there is no sign of herpes at all. I do have hpv and he said that that's what could have happened. He said since I was under a lot of stress, I had an hpv breakout which is extremely rare but happens. Never had anything like that again. I would definitely get a second opinion, because I was taking meds that I didn't need to be taking because of the first doc.
