Sharp stomach pain

I've had symptoms of pregnancy and I'm supposed to get my period this week (varies on the exact day) but last night I started having weird frequent "rolling sharp pains" it was similar to gas pain but more intense. It went on all night and this morning as well. It's toned down a bit but I still get the odd wave. It hurts if I press on my stomach too. It's not an isolated pain, it's all in my lower abdomen and it sometimes shoots up intro my ribs or around into my back. It doesn't feel like period cramps... Any ideas ?
