Birth control

I stopped my birth control 12 weeks ago and I've had two periods since then. My husband and I have sex practically every day or every other day. I was on birth control for 10 years. I was hoping to get pregnant almost right away but nothing still, is this normal? I've read how the bc is out of your system within days.
