How early can an ultra sound detect a heart beat?

What would be the earliest.

I went at 6 weeks and they could see/hear mine. From what I read that's the earliest they should be able to hear it.

I had an tranvaginal ultrasound at 5w2d and saw only the sac. I went back 4 days later and saw the fetal pole with a heartbeat! We only saw it though, couldn't hear it. Went back at 7w1d and heard and saw heartbeat!
