Am I overthinking things??

So I often ask my boyfriend nonsense questions that don't apply to us...and I usually end up getting upset at the answers. Like this time, I asked him "If I got my dream job in another city and made enough to support the both of us while you switched jobs too, would you move with me?" Of course, I expected him to say yes. We've been together for several years and plan on getting married and he always says I'm the only one for him...so when he said no, he wouldn't move if I did, I got upset. I would do anything for him, even move across the country. Am I wrong for getting upset? Is it my fault for upsetting myself by asking silly questions? What do you think about this?
