My husband didn't want to get married. He'd been through a divorce and his ex and financially destroyed him. So for many years, we didn't marry. We bought a house, started trying to conceive... We acted like a married couple. This September he surprised me by asking me to elope while we were on vacation. People can always change their minds, is my point. :-)

It doesn't show that he isn't faithful or irresponsible maybe they are scared I believe in marriage and my bf doesn't and I still love him try to understand what it is about marriage they are afraid of without judging and give them time to warm up to the idea without any pressure I would rather marry someone who was ready than someone who was pressured

A relationship can be stronger and healthier without the binding of marriage. 
A divorce isn't a problem. There are no who gets what after the divorce because it doesn't exist if you never get married. You simply part ways.

Marriage isn't anything but a piece of paper. It doesnt prove love. Now I do believe in marriage but at one point I didnt(that's another story for a rainy day) But my fiance at first didn't bring up married but one day he did and I thought bout it for days then finally I said if I could marry you then yes I would get married. Now I'm engaged lol

I tried to make it work between my ex and I because I really wanted a family and we have a son together. However, when I got told that the reason he didn't believe in marriage.., I lost it. He doesn't believe in paying the government money to announce that he loves someone and that I wasn't worth paying the $35 for a marriage license.
