What to do ?

When your boyfriend is a police officer and he says he deals with other people's problems at work he doesn't want to deal with the ones at home. How should I take that? It really upset me because we have been having problems lately and I can't get him to talk about them.

My man is a police officer and he would NEVER EVER treat me like that. He works 12 hours a day, 5 days a week and I am pregnant and emotional and constantly bugging him about my problems. If he loves you that should never be his attitude.

My husband is a 9-1-1 dispatcher and he's said something similar once or twice before. I just have to gently remind him that I'm his wife and not just some other person. I also have to remind myself to consider the fact that he does listen to other people's problems 40 hrs a wk and to stop and think if it's a real problem or just something small and petty.

Being an SO means dealing with each other's problems. If he doesn't have time for that than he may not be right for you as he is not just ignoring your problems. He is ignoring the essence of what causes intimacy and openness between two people.

My hub is also a Police Officer. He seems to be handling separation between work and us okay so far. There are days that are longer and tougher. I just do my best to always communicate with him and feel out the good days and the rough ones and be there for him as much as possible. Best of luck to you.

My husband is a police officer as well and I know they stay to leave work at work but that has to be difficult. Even with all he sees at work he still has problems/issues at home to deal with. This should come first. Me and my husband have been totally stressed for the last year but we still managed to deal with our problems. If he's having that many problems with dealing with work issues there's plenty of options they have that he can talk to. He needs to realize that just because you don't talk about things doesn't make it go away. Hiding from them makes them worse. He better start dealing with things before you get fed up and he's sitting there alone!

U need to express how you feel to him. Tell him you understand that he has problems at work but there are problems here also that need to be addressed. Keep things positive. I know with my husband I give him about 10/15 min to come home relax an quite around him then talk to him. It seems to help a lot with just the 10 mins of peace an quite. Hope this helps good luck
