To date or not to date

I am freshly out of a 2 year relationship and I think I'm ready to date. I've been hanging out with one of my guy friends and things are getting flirty and more towards being attracted to each other. My ex and I broke up 4 months ago and I'm really missing the companionship of a man. Am I flirting with my friend for convenience or is that a sign I'm really ready to move on?
