Cm change from morning to afternoon?

I am CD8 and went off birth control late October and had a normal period just a few days later than I had when on bc in late November.  I know it is likely early for me to be fertile but yesterday and today I had little water/sticky CM when checking in the morning and in the afternoon definitely egg white stretches 1inch.  First question is when should I be checking my cm and is this change from morning to afternoon normal?  Also which should I be tracking?  I have been taking opk as well which is confusing because my line this morningg was very close but just a tad lighter then control line does this mean I may have my lh surge soon? Any help would be great because I'm not sure if I'm fertile early or if I'm not...
