Cats and pregnancy?

I have two kittens and I just found out I was pregnant. Very early. I've been told about cleaning thier litter causing miscarriages and such. But I've had cats on and off for a lot of my life. I've had four that I can really remember taking care of myself. Am I still at risk? I don't want to get rid of them.

You'll be fine as long as someone else cleans their litter box during your pregnancy. I have two kitties myself that I would never part with! My husband is on litter duty! ???

I'm pretty sure if someone else deals with the litter so you are not breathing in the dust and bacteria, it will be fine. 
Several of my friends have cats and they had their significant other handle it.

My midwife said its okay if the cats sleep on my bed with me, but to have someone else manage the litter box. I also have to use gloves and a mask while gardening

Sister got a new kitten when she was 7 months. However the doctor told her that because she has been changing the litter boxes all of her life, she was already immune to all the dust and bacteria that comes from it. If you recently got a new cat and never changed a litter box before then you should have someone else do it. If you had cats before and always changed the litter boxes than you should be totally fine!

I told my doctor and asked for the toxoplasmosis test. Since my smaller  cat came from a House where he was outside. I got my results today. Negative. But was adviced not to deal with cats litter and I will be safe.

Don't change it have someone else change it for you . It can harm you and especially the baby have someone else change it since you are pregnant.

Cat feces can contain toxoplasma which can cause complications with pregnancy. I suggest either have someone else clean the litter box  or wear gloves and wash your hands.

My sister was told because they were indoor cats that she was ok because they weren't bringing in stuff from outside...it never made sense to me...and people told her not to vacuum while pregnant but she did and both of her kids are healthy

Just wear gloves if you have no one else to help with the litter, and wash your hands often. You should be ok
