How would you take this?

Question

So I am allergic to the Red 40 colorent. & my SO has asked me not to ware make up because he likes natural better & his mom has made it clear she doesn't like me & doesn't want us together.
My SO's mom just gave me make up for Christmas- she knows I don't ware it & that I'm allergic to the dye.
The ingredients clearly say Red 40...
Would you take it as her saying I'm ugly or that she doesn't care if I get sick?

I would take it as a thoughtless gift, but not a hostile or malicious one.

She probably didn't know or remember that you were allergic and she bought it because you (clearly) don't own makeup, so there was no risk of it being something that you already own.

Tell her thank you and re-gift it to a friend. Don't read too much into it.

As for her, she sounds just as sour as him.

I would throw it away, she's Just nasty.  Maybe in her mind her son is this baby who only women in his life should be her. Personally her opinion doesn't count. Don't think anything of it. Just remember it for future use. She's Just a mother in law from hell. Your SO matters Not her. Plus If You react she will be worse the next time. Be strong, because your worth it in the long run.

Ask her for the receipt so you can get something useful since you are allergic. Maybe she didn't know. If she did then she is just really inconsiderate.
