Can I use a heated blanket?

I'm five weeks along and freezing. Would using a heated blanket hurt the baby?

Answer

Keep it on low. The reason we're not supposed to really use heated blankets or get in hot tubs is because raising our body temperature can be detrimental to baby's brain growth. That's why the doctors also get worried if we run a fever.

I used a heating blanket because we don't use our heater (long story), I just kept it on the lowest setting. A lot of times I would turn it on before I went to bed on high, then shut it off when I got in and just let the residual heat warm me up. If I got cold in the night I'd turn it on the lowest setting. Basically just don't get too warm for too long :-)

I use one. I keep it on a lower setting. My hubby is weird and likes the window cracked and the fan on when it's 40 degrees outside. I would freeze  to death if I didn't. Lol

Use the blanket around your back and over your shoulders and try to keep it off your tummy.
