Anti-Depressants Addictive?

For 5 years I have been battling depression. And I feel like my life just gets worse and worse. My dad walked out on me for drugs. My family lied to me about my dad until the 9th grade. I've cut, burn and starved myself. I've been lied to and cheated on. And mostly recently, had my heart broken by the love of my life. 
Anyways, I take cipralex, my mom isn't too happy about that because she says I'll get addicted to it. Has anyone ever become addicted to antis?

There's definitely a withdrawal so you have to slowly wean yourself off. I guess that seems to indicate a physical dependence on them to some extent however once you get off them I don't believe you actually get cravings for them like an addict would.

I was on anti depressants for years don't just wake up one day and stop taking them! You will go into the worst depression ever. Slowly wing yourself off like skip a day then start skipping more until you're off.

You aren't really "addicted" but your body will go through a withdrawal. Your brain makes a chemical dependency and without it it just kinda feels weird. If I don't take my anti depressants for a few days I get kinda sick feeling. Most antidepressants aren't even scheduled (controlled) drugs. The only way it would be if it were Xanax or any benzodiampin!

I was on effexor for anxiety for only 2 months.. my dr tapered me off because I am TTC... worst withdrawals ever.. haven't had a dose in over a month and I'll still randomly feel them. Good luck. I'll pray for you.
