How do i ask my mum for birth control?!

Hey so im 15 (nearly 16) and i want to start going ok birth control after im 16 just to be safe but how do i ask my mum i feel really embarrased! Does anyone have any tips? Thankyou in advance.

When I asked my mom for BC she said she'll take me but never did after several times of asking.. I told her just to regulate my period as I'm irregular... There came a time when I lost my v card and I told her thinking we'd bond but she called me a whore and got really angry! Just approach your mum and tell her you'd like BC to "regulate" your period.. It's not a lie.

She doesn't have to know. Even when under the age of 18 your medical records are confidential if you say so. Your doctor is not required and is actually not allowed to talk with your mom without your permission. Just so you know your rights!!
With that said just be open and honest with your mom if you can. It's difficult and awkward but you'll feel better having shared everything with her.

Does she know you are/planning on being sexually active? If she does then just tell her outright because she'll understand and want you to be safe.

If she doesn't know and you're willing to tell her then try to have an open conversation with her about being sexually active but start off trying to figure out what her opinion is of people being sexually active at your age first before telling her about yourself. If she doesn't sound supportive then telling her might make her refuse but hopefully she will and she'll prefer you to be on BC even if she doesn't 100% agree with you having sex.

If you don't want to tell her about being sexually active because you think she'll react negatively then approach it from the hormone control point of view and tell her you want it to help your acne, period pains, flow and regularity.

Really, if your mum isn't comfortable with you being sexually active and you still live under her roof under her rules then you shouldn't out of respect. But I understand that sometimes parents can be unreasonable in trying to protect you so if she completely refuses to put you on BC then go ahead and do it yourself. I don't know where you live but the legal age for sex here is 16 so you can get BC on your own no problem.

In my state all sexual health care for anyone between the ages of 13-18 is strictly between the patient and doctor unless the patient wants to tell the parent. I got bc without needing to talk to my mom through a school health clinic. But also have gotten it through my doctor. I think of you are in a state with a law like that you could just do it and then tell her yoy got it for periods/cramps/acne control. If not then just calmly explain that its for regulation of those things.

If you live in America you can always go to planned parenthood and get birth control.. But if you want to talk to your mom about it, explain to her that even though you may not be having sex now you want to be responsible. If your mom is really against it there are more reason than just not getting pregnant to use birth control you can say that your periods are irregular and you want to make them regular.

This is really important, don't give up. I didn't tell anything for my mom for years and this gave me so much problems after all. You can say you're having a lot of cramps, pain and your cycle is irregular... Anything but run from the gynecologist
