Toddlers bedtime?

My sister in law has a 16 month old and we were talking about when my LO and hers go to sleep. I said my LO falls asleep around 8:30 sometimes 9 and usually wakes up around 9. She looked at me and said "isn't that early?" I said I didn't think so, but she went on to tell me about how her 16 month old doesn't go to bed till 11 sometimes midnight and doesn't wake up till 11:30 or noon.  I didn't say anything because I didn't feel as if it was my place, I just can't help but thinking that's awfully late to bed and late to wake up. What do you ladies think?

What works for some families doesn't work for others. Like families that have off work schedules. There's a couple that used to live in my neighborhood, they must have cleaned offices at night or something because the kids went with them and they got home late and put them to bed at that time. I put my 19 month old to bed at 7 and he usually gets up about 9. Different strokes for different folks.

When my daughter goes to bed early, she gets up early, when she goes to bed late, she gets up early. Her standard bedtime is 730-8 but as a mother I know all about the secretive playing she does when I close the door.

For a toddler, it really doesn't matter, as long as they are getting enough sleep. Once they are day care/school age, then it's something different.

Looks like baby is still getting about 12ish hours of sleep. If that works for mom, then I see nothing wrong with those hours. My kid personally goes to bed at 9pm because we have to be up at 8am. It all what works for the parents.

My almost 3 year old goes to bed between 7:30-8:30, depending on when his nap was, how long his nap was, and if he's cranky! 
But as long as a child is on a schedule and gets enough sleep, it's not really that big of a deal when they go to sleep (within reason of course)

Sometimes it's the schedule for the whole family that provides the best stability.

With a traditional 9-5 family the bedtime should be accordingly.

0-6 a 7:30 bedtime 
7-11 a 8:00 bedtime 
11-13 a 8:30 bedtime 
14-16 a 9:00 bedtime 
17+ a 10:00 bedtime

The weekends should have a 1/2 hour increase to the bedtime rules.

My son has been in a schedule since he was like 6-7 months bed at 8:30 and used to wake up at 11 every year he's woken up earlier. So now he's four he naturally gets up at 7-8.

I plan to have my child on a bed time schedule an wake up tht will get him ready for when he will be going to school. By the time my son is a toddler he will be in bed by 9 and up at 8am. That's how I was raised an never had an issue with bed time an waking up once I started school. I also go to bed early anyways so there's no reason my child will need to be up

My friends own a retail stores hours are 11-9. Their kids actaully go to an afternoon school that starts a 12pm and they get out at 6pm. They usually go to bed around 12 pm because dad gets home at 9:30. Otherwise he would never see his kids. They have a schedule that works for their family and careers. I think it's totally fine.
