Cake Topper, necessary?

My fiancé wants people, I think the people are tacky and would rather have a big S. Basically we can't agree on anything. I'm about to not have a topper. Do you think it's a necessity or something that can be left out? The question is in the title. Thanks ladies! :-)

I hate ppl cake toppers and much prefer a monogram or something. But I don't think it's necessary as long as your cake is beautiful. Maybe have flowers on top?

I wanted just flowers as the cake topper but my soon to be husband made a good point. He wants something as a keepsake after the wedding and thats understandable. People toppers don't work for us though because he isn't wearing a black tux. Since his tux will be a different color we would have to get one custom made and since we are paying for the whole wedding thats more than we want to spend. We found a glittery cake topper with our initals and the words mr. & mrs. For really cheap.

We found a beautiful Monogram cake topper that I plan to decorate with after our wedding. But if you can't find a topper you both love then flowers would probably be your best bet

There are so many "people" cake toppers. Look on Pinterest or etsy. You might just find one you both like.
