I work in a place called Advanced Heart Failure ICU- we are traditionally the heart transplant folks but with technology of recent years we've added things like LVADs (heart pumps that help the left side of the heart work) and total artificial hearts (yep- all plastic, we cut out the heart) both machines as a bridge to keep them alive till transplant- because it could be years they have to wait. 3 years ago when I started here I met my very first LVAD patient- awesome man, huge personality, loving, Christian, just a great guy and a great attitude. This past month he's had trouble with his device and was just hoping to be moved up on the list but TONIGHT they found a match!!! I'm posting to request prayer for the donor family, as they are dealing with a loss even new life cannot replace. Prayers for the surgeons and flight team to travel safe and perform the surgery as planned (it will be almost 2am here when he gets the heart) and for a safe and steady recovery for my beloved patient.
