Will/did you teach your kids the proper anatomical names for their genitals?

Just curious, because I know grown women who don't use anatomical phrasing to refer to their vulvas/vaginas, and I'm wondering if that is ingrained from a young age.

Yes. It's so so so important. If someone's hurting your child and they reach out to tell someone they may not be taken seriously or heard if they say someone touched my cupcake or giny (or whatever lame nickname you can think of) it's important that they say someone touched my penis or vagina.

Personally, I think it's important, especially as kids grow up and are able to communicate, to make sure they know the correct names for the parts of their body. If they are injured or sick or something happens that makes them unconfortable, I would want them to be able to tell me/a doctor exactly what happened/what hurts and where. I think it also helps to reinforce that genitals are just body parts, and there's nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade, so to speak.

I think it is so important to teach kids from a young age the difference between good touches and bad touches along with the proper names of their body parts. I think this especially holds true if you are using any sort of childcare -- even if it's someone you know and trust.

Kids YELL everything. I can't have my daughter screaming vagina in a mall or restaurant. We call it her "business" lol. But at least in public she'll say "my undies went up my business" or "I have an itch on my business" instead of yelling "I have an itch on my vagina!"

I honestly don't know. I actually hadn't thought about it. I know my mom taught my brothers peepee for penis. Idk what I called my vagina if I called it anything? I see both sides of the situation. Tell them the correct words for safety reasons. Give them nicknames incase they decide to scream it in public. I think I'll just stick with correct words. We are having a son so right now I think it the easiest to just use the correct words.

My parents made up names except for the penis and boobs. For my vagina they called it a phoon. And it's really funny becuz I remember believing that it was called that up until 5th grade and I told my friend what it was called in 3rd grade haha. 😂😂
