When did you realise you didn't want children?

Hi, I'm 21 years old and I'm terrified of getting pregnant. As it is right now I just can't see myself as a mother, or bringing up a child. I am very focused on my goals and I want nothing to be in my way. I have study plans and then wanting to pursue a career in business on an international level. I haven't started my studies yet due to personal circumstances but will do next year.

I currently have a boyfriend of 2 years, he's two years older than me and he too has little desire of having kids at the moment but might want at least one in the future. I have worked previously as a nanny for almost a year minding one little two year old. It was good for me to learn how to take care of a child, but I don't think
I'm cut out for it. Children doesn't appeal to me and it probably sounds horrible. Anyone else who feels this way you or is certain they will never want kids?

As a person who loves children but has seen first hand children being born and unwanted, I applaud everyone who knows what they can and can't handle or what they want and don't. Children are love but they are work and time. There is nothing wrong for not wanting them😊

I've always known that motherhood wasn't for me. I never felt that drive or urge to have kids of my own, and I still don't. My husband is the same. It is completely fine to be childfree by choice.

I think it is great when you are sure you don't want kids. Just be sure to let current and future partners know so they can decide if they want the same or not. Too many women do it because they think that is what they are supposed to do or what their partner wants. Own it and stick to your guns.

I'm 29 and have only just started contemplating having a child. We aren't positive it's what we want from our lives but we also don't want to get too old and regret not experiencing being parents. I love children but I seem to keep hitting snooze on my "biological clock".

I have a friend that feels exactly the same. She's 30 and she's been with her SO for 18 years now and neither of them ever want to have kids. They like kids a lot but they have absolutely no desire to ever have their own. I've always wanted kids but I can totally understand how someone wouldn't want kids, they're hard work!!

You are still very young... At your age it's the best to focus on studys and making money.... Maybe in 10 years your world will change.... Just be open for all options and stand to your decision: no children by now.

Im 25 and I never want to get pregnant and never have - even when I was little. I don't like babies, and I've never changed a diaper.

I do, however, enjoy kids. I plan on adopting once I get financially stable.

Never let anyone make you feel bad for doing what's best for you.  I probably knew I had no desire for children around the time I was a senior in college.  10 years later, I haven't changed my mind and never will.  My boyfriend has ZERO desire for children as well, even though in general we both like children.
