Transition to toddler bed?

Question

My DS will be 18 months when this baby arrives (if it's not a month early like its brother) any mommas with littles that close? Did you transition to a toddler bed or purchase another crib? I'm really torn. I don't think we can fit two cribs in the room we will have them in until we can buy a new house. But I also don't want to move him too early and ruin his sleeping habits. 😕

I think I might have found the perfect solution!! It resembles a crib and comes with two front rails to keep him from rolling out and can convert to a full size bed. And less than half of what we paid for our crib. I think this is what we will try and try to transition him in a couple months. I want him to not think of the crib as "his" anymore by the time the baby comes.

Beileve it or not I changed my daughter over to a toddler bed when she turned 13 months she loves it!! I say bed she will go to the refrigerator wait on toget   her milk and will run and kiss dad goodnight and then runs to her bed gets in and lays down and waits til I give her a bottle!! She is now. 16 months

My daughter is 19m and we got her a toddler bed yesterday & she slept in it all night .. It has the rails on both sides - the crib is still in her room (it will be used by her new sister) and she didn't even mind. We got her fun frozen sheets & she loved it!

We tried to transition our daughter into a toddler bed around 18month and she wanted no parts of it. Eventually we took her crib down and made it "fun" for her to sleep in her toddler bed. Removing the crib made it easier in terms of "out of sight, out of mind"

My son got a toddler bed around 18 months. We had been talking about switching him already and then one morning I heard him on the monitor, got up to go get him and he was in my living room.... 
Lol we used to leave his door cracked so that I could peek in on him so he easily got out of his room once he got out of the crib. 
We went the next day and got him a toddler bed and he loves it! He is now 20 months and he sleeps fine in it. He actually goes to sleep easier now.

I ended up transitioning my 17 mo 2 days ago I've had server hip displacement which has caused back pain and I was having a hard time picking him up out of his crib So far it's worked great

Our daughter started climbing out her crib around 16 months! We quickly transitioned to a toddler bed and never looked back... She did fine.

My newborn won't be sleeping in a crib right away so I see no rush. He/she will be in a rocker or something, but not a crib.

My daughter went to a toddler bed about a month before 18 months. She was climbing out of the crib though. She will be 2yrs 3 months before baby comes, so we probably would have moved her soon anyway. We wanted her to get use to the toddler bed and not feel like she lost her crib for the baby. You don't have to transition right away though, unless baby is sleeping in the crib right away.
