It is different for everyone. Factors like how long you have been a smoker, what causes you to smoke, how badly do you want to quit? All come into play.  I quit cold turkey about 7 years ago... Then three years later I started again, sort of socially at a stressful job. The smoking section was also where management hung out so it was an easy way to get them to recognize you. I smoked again for three years after that and finally I quit for the following reasons: it's an expensive habit, we wanted to try and start a family and I wanted to get healthier, I always stunk like an ashtray and even I could smell it on my clothes. Vaping DID not work for me and only made me crave smokes more. I know people it has worked for, but I know others that say the same as me and that it didn't work. I quit cold turkey again, and it's been a year. You have to WANT to quit, and if you have a social group that smokes you also need to either stay away from them until you have kicked the habit, or you need to ask them to be respectful of your wishes and ask that they go somewhere else to smoke. Finally, you have to find out what works for YOU.

I quit when I fell pregnant (cold turkey) and it was easy because I had a big enough incentive! I started up again a few months after giving birth (3years ago) and I've been trying to quit for months now! It's so hard! I think it's all will power and I believe cold turkey is the easiest way to go! I need to stop saying 'one day' and just do it... My mum can quit with the click of a finger then start up 3 weeks later then stop start etc so everyone is different!

My mom and dad quit cold turkey about six years ago. They actually just started vaping. I was never really a smoker. I smoked for about six months when I was about 18 and I stopped easily. I think I did it mainly for social reasons. I heard vaping really helps. 💖. Good luck.
