Has anyone done the string and needle theory?

So I've done the string and needle theory and it was spinning in circles (which means girl). I'm hoping it's right.

For those who don't know about this old wives tale. You take a sewing needle and take some string and knot the string after threading it through the needle, hold it over your left Palm or belly without moving it yourself if it spins in a circle motion its a girl if it sways back and forth its a boy. It's also suppose to tell you how many kids you will have or have and in what order of sex.

I did the string and the ring theory (basically the same thing) and I did the baking soda test. The string and ring was correct but the baking soda test was not. It's a boy!

Isnt it supposed to be a ring not a needle? I've never heard of using a needle.
