Genetic Testing?

At our heartbeat appointment yesterday she discussed the idea of doing genetic testing when I come back at week 11/12..My husband and I both agree we would never terminate a pregnancy due to disabilities. She explained how you should consider it for lethal disorders like Trisomy 18 and 13 so you could terminate earlier on. This is my first pregnancy and I'm a little out of my element. What are talks thoughts? Do yall plan to do this?

As long as they are passive tests that are not invasive there is no harm in doing the tests. Regardless of what you chose to do, knowing in advance would give you some time to process and plan before the baby comes. Knowledge is power! ☺️

I would and am doing the tests. My partners sister had a baby that was born with abnormalities, she died 2 days later. The suffering that the family went through is something I'd try and avoid. There shouldn't be any judgement as we are all individual adults.

Thanks for yalls thoughts. I agree with the invasiveness- I think it may be a simple blood test. Lots to think about still!

I'm not doing any testing.

My doctor doesn't even offer this testing as he is very prolife... Even if he did.. I don't think my husband and I would do the testing regardless
