Is 5-6 weeks to early for an ultrasound?

My Dr said to come for one in a week and I'm only 4-5 weeks along. After hearing various skeptics talk about ultrasounds and links to autism I'm aiming for as few as possible. When did you get your first US? Thanks!

It is not pointless if you've ever had a bad ultrasound. Having someone tell you bad news when you are excited to see your baby is terrible, and personally I would rather know at 5 or 6 weeks that something is wrong than  find out at 8-9 weeks. I think those who have had losses might just see it different.

You won't see much this early. My pregnancy is high risk so they did one around that time (as opposed to 9-10 weeks with my first). You'll just see the gestational sac and the yolk sac. Maybe the fetal pole.

I had one at 6 weeks 4 days.... We could see fetal pole, yoke sac, and flicker of a heartbeat

I had my first scan at 6w1d and we heard the heartbeat! It was a transvaginal scan and we could see the little blib!

It's not necessarily pointless, but could very likely be a letdown as there isn't much to see.

I had an ultrasound today since I'm high risk and needed to be dated. We saw the embryo and a heart beat. I'm 5 weeks 6 days. It was so worth it.

No with ivf and high risk we had one weekly from 5-9

I had one at 5 weeks- it's not pointless at all. They do this to confirm proper implantation (not tubal) and that there's a sac.

Its pointless this early as there may only be a sac. I would ask them to postpone it till 8 weeks
