Would you have a baby even if you found out it could kill you?

No. I actually had to make this decision for myself. I have a valvular defect in my heart, and pregnancy is contraindicated. Being pregnant with this heart issue can lead to an aortic dissection, massive heart attack or stroke, fetal death or stillbirth, thrombosis, and all kinds of other awful issues. I became pregnant after perfect use of birth control- following the instructions to a T, being very mindful of drug interactions and the time I took it, and I never missed a pill. After talking it over with my husband, cardiologist, and OBGYN, I had an abortion. I chose life: my own.

I've always planned not to have children because it's so risky to me, and the chances of the little one surviving was so low.
But then I accidentally got pregnant...and I couldn't bring myself to abort it.
So I carried, and I went to the doctors once a week, and I did everything I could.
I still ended up losing the baby at 25 weeks.
It's heartbreaking, but the silver lining is now...now the doctors think i may have a chance of being able to be pregnant without any complications. They would have never discovered my limits or possibilities had I not gotten pregnant. 
So even though my angle baby couldn't stay with me, he was a huge blessing, and I'm so thankful I got to experience those few precious months with him, and the future he may have helped me discover.

Yes! I had cardiomyopathy during pregnancy and I also have a mytro valve regurgitation, with my first pregnancy I was hospitalized a couple times due to fluid around my heart and rapid heart rate and I was hospitalized again right after she was born. When I got pregnant with my second my ob was very upset and didn't want me to have another baby, but I want children I still want one more, and this last pregnancy wasn't even half as bad as my first. Now I have 2 beautiful baby girls. Maybe I will try one last time for my boy in the future, maybe don't know if I would be brave enough as now I have 2 children that need me.

If I didn't already have children I would probably go through the pregnancy. The doctors aren't always right, and even if I were to die during birth I know my baby would be in good hands with my SO and my parents.

If I knew before getting pregnant, I would avoid getting pregnant. If I was already pregnant and it could kill me, I would for sure terminate. I have two kids and I don't want to leave them without a mother.

I checked 'yes' but I thought about it and should have hit 'no'. If I knew before hand that it would be dangerous and could kill me I would not get pregnant again. If I was already pregnant when I found out that it could kill me, I'd take it one day at a time and if it got too risky I would sadly have to abort. I have a daughter already and I couldn't be selfish enough to risk her not having a mother for the rest of her life all because I wanted another baby. I would consider adoption instead, there are thousands of kids in need of a Mommy in 'the system' :)

I know it's not the same, but what about considering having a serrogate mother. At least it's still your egg, so it's kind of like the next best thing
