NYC parents to be?

Hey everyone!

My husband and I will be delivering our little one in NYC and so far I don't like the options. Either we shell out $1k/night for a private room so he can stay with us or he finds a hotel while I share with a stranger :(

Anyone else delivering here that has advice? Thx!

That's just crazy! I've never heard of people having to share a room after delivery...I would be so irritated if I had to share a room. Good luck I hope you can find a better option.

I delivered at NYU and loved it. Didn't pay for a private room, but no one ever showed up in the second. But even if they had, I barely stayed one night (early discharge because everyone was healthy and ready to go).

I'm sure it's not too bad and in the scheme of things really won't matter at all. It'll go by quickly.

I am delivering high risk at Columbia on the UWS. My doctor told me you could request a private room upon check in but it cost more and had to be available. Seems like a bad deal as I also don't want to be with a stranger and willing to pay, just want it taken care of in advance. Any advice or insight welcomed on Columbia.

I gave birth at long island jewish hospital in new hyde park absolutely loved it the staff was amazing i didnt have a private room after birth but i was fine with that the woman i shared with was very nice and clean, deff planning on having my second baby there this August (:

I think we may check out Brooklyn Birthing Center. Spoke to a friend that will be delivering there for the 2nd time and we're pretty happy. I'm terrified of the pushy c-sections I hear about in NYC hospitals :(

I shared a room she was only there for like two days or 1.5. She had a natural birth I had a csection. But she was a horrible roommate she was 14 blasted cartoons all night and day and left bloody pads all over the floor and blood over the toilet it was nasty.

Nope!  I wish I had advice...  I'll definitely be sharing a room but assumed there would be a curtain and my husband could stay with me/us if he wanted (albeit not comfortably). I haven't toured the facility yet, so I don't know the precise layout of the rooms.
