When did you first meet?

Co
Hey! I was a little hesitant about posting this but I love all people and this particular memory I am actually really fond of and hold quite close to my heart so I was really curious if anyone else had similar memories. I'm just nervous someone is gonna go "that's racist!" 😅 which it's not I'm just curious about other's encounters.
Okay here goes, as a reminder I lived in Montana from birth to 6 years old and this happened when I was 4.
When I was little I lived in Montana, and if you've ever been in Missoula there's A LOT of space. Like your neighbor is far far away kind of space. So I didn't meet very many people and those that I did were always white (the majority of the people my parents knew were white so that's all I was ever exposed to) but they had one friend that was black. I remember when I first met him haha. Id always been taught to shake people's hands (and I liked imitating my parents) so when he came over I ran to shake his hand and was so SO surprised by the difference. I actually froze up. My dad has a video of me reaching out and trying to rub off the pigment. Al looked at me and said "it's not coming off". We finished the really goofy handshake (I have a picture on my desk and his hands engulf my little mitsXD) and that was that. He came around more often and once I was older we went on tons of fishing trips, even though that was mainly me flinging around a little pink butterfly rod. Since moving to Oregon I have missed him so so much. He's passed away now but will always be a roll model to me.
Don't raise your kids to be racist. Kids don't initially hate. They're TAUGHT to hate. Teach and raise them to love and respect everyone because color doesn't determine how good of a person you are. He was like a surrogate father to me and I will forever appreciate his role in my development. So I was wondering if anyone else remembers their first time meeting someone?
