Is shaving the vagania harmful?

My mom told me shaving your vagania hair was bad. If it is indeed bad, what other options do I have to get rid of the hair? 
Please help a confused teen.

Its not bad your moms trying to scare you not to do it, im assuming your young so i have to ask why you want to shave? Does it bother you or is it for a guy?

Shaving isn't bad. The worse than can happen is you accidently cut yourself or you get an ingrown hair when I grows back. Don't share a razor with anyone even if you decide against shaving down there. You can't get an std from sharing one but it's not sanitary to share anyway. Your mom is probably trying to scare you bc you're obviously young and she thinks you're gonna have sex if you do. I personally have shaved for about 10 years bc it's just more comfortable to me.

I shave everything, have done for years, I don't feel 'clean' otherwise! Everyone is different! There is certainly nothing wrong with it! You could get an Ingrowing hair if you shave in the wrong direction and if you cut yourself and don't look after it then yeh you could in theory get an infection but you certainly can't get an std unless you use a dirty, blood stained razor from someone who already has an std! Best bet is to go to your local beautician and wax your bikini line and have an all round trim and see if you like it and then wax it shave further should you wish! A beautician will show you what to do at the very least! Absolutely do not do this, or anything else for that matter, for a boy though sweetie!

If you have sensitive skin , I will tell you don't Shave it you might Irritate your skin or you might know how to shave the area probably? So try to trimming your hairs OR go wax I never tried it but I do want . I do Shave but Not as often cause I start seeing my Skin getting Irritated and No I don't use Chape Shavers . I even use Conditioner so my Skin Won't get Irritated When I'm Shaving it Helps Me. And I Really don't like the Shaving Gel for Down there lol I feel like the Conditioner works better

Been shaving it since I was 16. My boyfriend told me to do it. But I only do it every other week. I never get any ingrown hairs and it's a lot smoother, never red afterwards, no irritation. Once it starts growing back in it will start itching a little bit so I put baby powder on it if it's really bothering me

Actually, the hair can harbor excess fuilds like discharge and sweat. So it's beneficial to shave at least around the greater labial openings.
