Can you ovulate after skipping a period? Please help

Ok so I'm 5 days late on my period. Took tests everyday since period due and all negative and no pregnancy symptoms. This morning, I accidently peed on an opk stick instead of a pregnancy test and I was shocked to see a positive result on the opk. Does that mean I'm ovulating? Is it even possible, even though I have not yet even had my period? Please can someone give me advice? So confused. Thanks

I went through something similar (delayed ovulation, not missed period, got positive OPK randomly) and learned that your period is tied to when you ovulate.

So if you don't ovulate on time/miss a period, keep taking OPKs because you will ovulate eventually  (and if you don't after 60 days, see your doctor). You then should get your period 12-14 days after you ovulate (or whatever your norm is), unless you get a BFP.

It's annoying because your cycle gets messed up, but it's a relief to know you didn't just skip ovulation altogether!
