Bassinet safety?

A family member is offering us a free bassinet and just sent the pics (has a stand not shown). My biggest hesitation (aside from how ugly it is lol) is that it appears to be a basket style with fabric lining... I thought these were a SIDs/suffocation risk or am I misinterpreting? Is this a safe style of bassinet? (For that matter, what style is this even considered?). Thanks!
