Back pain

Libby • Stop existing. Start living.

I'm 16 weeks today and wow, my back is killing me! Long car rides are especially difficult even with a heated seat. Does the back pain ever decrease?

I have to go on a field trip to a city over 2 hours away for work in 3 weeks and at this point I don't know if I could make it.

Try some baby safe muscle rub (like tiger balm) and I would start some gentle core strengthening exercises, either prenatal yoga or Pilates for pregnancy. Women are usually more flexible in their sacroiliac joint at the base of the spine and with the looser joints in pregnancy and added weight of the baby it's really easy to shift it out of alignment or even dislocate it causing a ton of muscle pain or strain.   If you can stand it, try lying on your back every day and placing your hands underneath your backside, then lifting your legs straight up and down, or bicycling them. This'll work your core in a gentle way and support your back. A yoga or Pilates class would be best as you'd not only do stuff like this but also stretch and re-align the vertebrae that are whacked out from your baby. <3 good luck and I hope your feel better!

I'm 16 weeks 3 days pregnant with twins, plus I have two kids. I'm having the same thing, my back hurts pretty much all the time. Just being on my feet for a short time it starts to really hurts, I'm sure it doesn't help that I'm on my feet with my kids all day, there almost 6 yrs old & 8 yrs old., running errands & appts & work. Thank god for when my man is home, that's the only time I can relax somewhat, so when he's at work & I'm at home with the kids it always hurts worse. Hope you find some relief, I'm trying to find some, only thing that helps my backache a little is warm showers & back massages.
