Is it tacky to invite guests to your shower via a Facebook event?

Question

My sister is hosting my shower in a few weeks. We have put together a guest list and she created a Facebook event for the shower. Several people have already rsvp'd but I just don't want everyone talking about how tacky it is to only do fb invites lol would you think that was poor manners? Or is it acceptable considering that it is 2015 and pretty much everyone is on Facebook on their smart phone?

I personally hate those event invites on Facebook. And never attend events that are only givin an
Invite from Facebook. I find it very tacky and ridiculous. Like seriously it doesn't take that long to mail invites out.

I did invites on FB and I gave certain people that are older paper invites.

I think Facebook can be a great way to ensure everyone has the details but I would first hand deliver paper invites to those you can and email/call/text those who you won't be able to see beforehand. Good luck! X

I don't think it's tacky especially if it's easier to get ahold of people that way. If you want to do digital invites I'd consider doing evites :)

One of my showers was only announced at church & via email invites. 
Another was by email only (work shower).
My family shower had paper invites.

I did a combination. Most ppl I know, I don't have addresses for... or emails for that matter. Times have changed, nowadays you keep up with ppl via text or social media. I initially asked ppl who rsvpd to the fb invite to do their address. Only 3 ppl did, so I said forget it, and posted the full invite in the event. I am mailing to those who I have addresses for and those who aren't on fb. And handing out to those I see often. Nothing Tacky about a well put together fb invite in 2015.

There are email invites that are actually pretty classy... I know paperless post, celebrations, and evite all have nice ones. We used a facebook event and asked everyone for email addresses so we could send a nice invitation. I think it also depends on the type of shower you're having. Ours was a pretty informal family party type for both sexes and all ages, come when you can. I don't know, I think formality is nice if that's important to you but no reason to stress too much...
