Hello. I'm currently 19 weeks (tomorrow) my friend and I planned that when I go to the dr on Friday to find out the sex Id have them put it in an envelope & she would reveal it to me & my SO since he's a truck driver. Well I decided I'd have our family & friends over for a bonfire & just reveal it then! This is my second child & SO's first. I never did this with my first it was just me finding out and telling people...I just want to do something fun. I'm excited for this baby to enter our family and I want our family to share the moment of finding out the gender with us. My SO however said he doesn't understand the point of it, asked are we just going to light a fire say it's a _____ now drink some beer, and he doesn't get what a bonfire has to do with revealing the gender & why anyone would care what we are having...blah blah blah. I got upset and wasn't going to argue so I just got off the phone...but is this a stupid idea? He is excited about the baby but he's been stressed at work and I think that is his number one thing but I'm not supplying the beer. And just planned on doing hotdogs & s'mores so nothing expensive...I'm really close to just telling everyone never mind and cancel it. Is a bonfire/gender reveal a stupid idea!?
