Can I eat deer meat?

Question

Hubby shot a deer last fall, we got it processed at a local place we know and trust. Can I eat the deer sausage (summer sausage) and deer sticks?!?

We primarily only eat venison and Elk which we shot and harvested ourselves. Since being pregnant I make sure to cook all meet thoroughly. But I feel it is safer. There are no injected hormones and the animals are only grass/corn fed since they roam free.
