Mastitis?

Question

I thought my left breast was just engorged but when I put a warm towel over it and pumped barely anything came out. It feels like it's on fire and it hurts so bad. It also feels like something is being pulled (not my nipple) when I'm feeding him. Should I call my obgyn or is this normal?

They gave me antibiotics and told me to feed through it. They couldn't find a bump and they said it wasn't very red but they think it's the beginning of a pretty bad infection because of my fever and how much it hurts. So happy they caught it early.

I called the lactation consultant and she said to come in immediately. I have a slight fever and I've felt absolutely awful today. It does feel a little worse by my armpit but the pain just feels like it's taking over my breast.

Hand express, go for a hot shower

Hey Clarissa! This happened to me when I stopped breast feeding. The only thing that helped me pump (because I had to pump once a day, to prevent engorment and slow down milk flow/production) was massaging the breast in the shower with hot hot water! Finally they unplugged and it came out! Hand express.

Kind of sounds like it could be, I would call just incase!

Is it hot, or do you have flu symptoms? I have mastitis and mine hurt bad under my armpit, when nursing it killed me. I had chills then would sweat, nursing or pumping didn't relieve the pain.
