Help? Any ideas?

Well my son is 3 years old, he ate most things when he was a baby but now he's so picky! Ugh!!!
He will not eat anything he hasn't seen before. He'll try the odd finger food sort, parties he eats a good lot of food but at home I can't seem to get him to eat different.
all he eats is chips, pizza chicken nuggets ect.. I'm sick of him eating that. I cook it because I know that if I put it on a plate he will eat it and he's not going to bed hungry rather than putting something Infront of him he won't eat. Every day is a constant battle to get him to try different! Had enough. 
So is there any way I can get him to try new foods?

Daycare teacher here - this is what we do with pur 3 year olds.

The food rule is you must try more than one thing on your plate before getting second servings of anything. Say we're eating grilled cheese, apple sauce, cucumber, and watermelon. If you eat all your grilled cheese and want more, you must eat some other things first.

So maybe make 3-4 foods for dinner (chicken and 3 fruits or veggies he doesn't totally hate?) And tell him before he can have more chicken (which you know he eats) he has to try bites of something else.  That way you know he's eating something, but will begin to realize 'oh, I'm hungry and want more, I'll have to try other foods too!'

If you decide to have a new rule STICK TO IT! Its strict but makes more sense to toddlers. They think very black and white - things need to be predictable.

My son is the same way, when he was 1, he ate whatever I cooked, and rarely fast food, but now he'll be 4 in August his favorite thing is chicken nuggets with cheese, chips, and fries. And I thought the same as you did, I would rather feed him something, then go to bed hungry. But what I do now, that have been working for me, is that I take him with me to the grocery to pick out what he wants to eat, sometimes he'll even ask for more. And if he don't eat it, I'll say okay, take 5 more bites of each one, and we'll count together, and he gets so into counting that he ends up eating everything, hopefully that works for you too. And if neither of those work, I give him oatmeal before bed, so something can stick to his stomach. Good luck 😀
