Gasping/choking while breastfeeding?

Does anyone notice that their LO will gasp/choke/forget to breathe at times while nursing? Scares the crap outta me. Seems to have just started when my milk really came in, in volume. Any ideas? I just sent a message to my doc to ask. My mom says it can be normal.

It usually just means your let down in a little aggressive at first. It sounds scary but it's no big deal. You can put some pressure on the top to help slow it down for him but it typically only lasts a second.

When I had a let down with my 2nd child as soon as I felt it coming I would let down on my nursing pad. Then put baby back on. So much would gush out like he was choking

My son does this too. Sometimes keeping a hand on the top part of my breast helps manage the let down.

Yep, my son does this but only on my left side because it has an overactive let down and an oversupply! Lol

Completely normal. Sounds like you have an over active letdown. Try hand expressing some before you nurse.
