Are people born gay or is it a choice?

I had a heated argument today in class about wether LGBT people are born that way or if it is chosen. I personally think they are born that way, but I would really like to know others opinions or experiences. (Not meant to be offensive in any way, I support LGBT)

Well I mean I didn't choose to be straight. I was born this way. People of the LGBTQ community didn't choose to be that way. Why would someone choose to be hated and bashed on by everyone? You think people enjoy getting hated on and discriminated against to the point where they don't know what else to do and take their own life?

Sexuality isn't like Maybelline. We're born with it. Though that's not always to say that we're aware of it. Sexuality,  much like anything else in life,  can be a journey of discovery. Some know for certain right out of the gate,  others take the scenic route to their identities. Others don't ever make it there. We're people just like anyone else,  and that means we didn't get an instruction manual either.

I don't think anyone would choose to be singled out by society and discriminated against, harassed, insulted etc...I'm heterosexual but don't think homosexualality is a choice or a life style.

I believe people are born gay. I don't think it's possible for someone to wake up one day, say "I'm gay" and all of a sudden have feelings for the same sex. It doesn't work like that. You can't force yourself to be attracted to someone you aren't. However I believe that sexuality is fluid, and can change through a persons lifetime. Sometimes it just takes longer to realize who you really are. And even if it was a choice, who the hell cares?? People choose to be assholes and no one gives them shit about it.
